How we got here

11 years of other people’s call-backs.

A large share of the work we are called out to is not new — it is somebody else’s job, opened up again. A geyser installed without the right valves. A shower that was never waterproofed properly under the tiles. A supply line that was patched rather than replaced because replacing it would have shown up in the quote.

After enough of those, you stop thinking of plumbing as a trade where the cheapest quote is a fair comparison. Two quotes for the same bathroom are usually two different jobs, and only one of them includes the parts you will never see.

So we work the other way round. The scope is written down, the hidden work is done properly, and the job is tested before it is closed up. It is not a complicated philosophy. It is just harder to sell than a low number.

• We quote what the job actually is

  It is easy to win work by quoting the small version of a job and finding the rest of it later. We would rather have the awkward conversation at the quote stage than halfway through, when you have no real choice.

• The hidden work is the work

  Waterproofing, falls, and the joints behind the tiles are the parts that decide whether a bathroom lasts ten years or eighteen months. They are also the parts nobody inspects. We do them as though someone will.

• One person you can actually reach

  Every job has a named contact who knows the detail of it. You are not re-explaining your bathroom to whoever answers the phone.
